Covid-19, Day 3: Lucky or Unlucky?

Friday, March 13, 2020

Friday the 13th

Yep.

In the last week, we've had a full moon, Friday the 13th, time change, and a pandemic.

How fun.

This is the first day that they kids are out of school. Next week is spring break, so they only had to jump the gun by one day.

We are trying to decide if we should keep our tickets to fly to Orlando. It's only an hour to the beach, 3 hours to Ft Myers or 5 hours to the keys.

I checked...Kennedy Space Center is closed. But the beach would be safe, right?

I spent my day in meetings...all of which occurred at restaurants. Only one them exhibited any transparency about cleanliness and wiping down surfaces.

Even though we lost our vacation, and are homebound, there is a lot to be thankful for, and I do think we are lucky.

In the news:
  • Wall Street entered a bear market for the first time in 11 years
  • U.S. launched retaliatory airstrikes in Iraq against an Iranian-backed militia following a rocket attack against American troops
  • Kansas City declares a state of emergency and bars gatherings of more than 1000 people
  • 7 confirmed cases in KS and MO (4 of those in Johnson and Wyandotte KS counties) but testing is very limited here.
